서울, 도시와 건축 2007 

『서울, 도시와 건축 2007』은 지난 2000년에 발간된 ‘서울, 도시와 건축’의 후속 작업입니다. 2000년 판과 마찬가지로 서울시가 한국건축가협회에 그 집필을 의뢰한 것이며, 역사분과위원회 등 모든 관련 분야와의 깊은 교감과 연대를 바탕으로 출판사업위원회가 주관하여 진행하였습니다.『 서울, 도시와 건축 2007』은 지난 몇 년간 새로 지어진 건물, 새로 조성된 거리 등을 조사하여 기존의 판본에 추가하는 작업으로 그치지 않고, 서울의 공간과 시간의 켜에 함축되어 있는 다양한 의미들을 건축가의 눈으로 새롭게 관찰하고 기록하고 있습니다. 즉 건축가의 눈으로 본 서울의 도시와 건축이 이 책의 편찬 방향입니다.

 

『서울, 도시와 건축 2007』은 서울을 바라보는 네 개의 조망점을 설정하고, 각각의 조망점마다 3~6개씩, 총 18개의 주제로 과거와 현재 그리고 미래의 모습을 그리고 있습니다. 건축가의 눈으로 기록된 사진과 글에는 서울의 아름답고 긍정적인 모습 뿐 아니라 아쉬움을 갖게 하는 모습도 있습니다. 개발과 발전의 과정에서 우리가 놓치거나 잃어버린 가치들을 다시 생각해 봄으로써, 역사도시 서울이 갖고 있는 유무형의 자산이 미래의 바탕이 되어야 함을 일깨우고 있습니다.

SEOUL_Architeture and Urbarnism 2007 

“Seoul, Architecture and Urbanism, 2007” is the follow-up work to “Seoul, Architecture and Urbanism” published in 2000. As in the 2000 edition, the Seoul metropolitan government left the writing of the book to the Korean Institute of Architects. This book is the result of the combined efforts of the entire KIA, especially the Architectural History Subcommittee and the Publication Committee. “Seoul, Architecture and Urbanism 2007” contains observations and writings about the various meanings implied in the space and time layers of Seoul. The architects’ perspective of research on new buildings and streets has been added to the existing edition. That is to say, the direction of the book is to describe the city and its architecture from the architects’ perspective.

“Seoul, Architecture and Urbanism, 2007” establishes four viewpoints for looking at Seoul. Every viewpoint has three to six subjects, including aspects of the past, the present and the future. The pictures and text are based on the architects’ perspective, and examine the beautiful and positive aspects of Seoul as well as the negative aspects. By re-examining how the architectural values of Seoul were diluted during the process of development and construction, we are reminded that both the intangible and tangible assets of Seoul should be the foundation of future development.
